Are Coconuts Safe with a Tree Nut Allergy?
Until about last month, I have avoided eating coconuts because some sources consider it a tree nut. When I attended my recent allergy appointment, my allergist reassured me that I was not allergic to it and tested me. I was completely fine and have been eating coconut since. Being able to coconut has opened up many doors for other substitutes in my life such as ice cream, cream cheese, and milk. Always check with an allergist before testing!

Am I Allergic to All Tree Nuts?
Just because you have been diagnosed with a tree nut allergy, it does not necessarily mean you should avoid all tree nuts. However, many tree nuts are closely related so if allergic to one, it is likely you are allergic to the other. Personally, I avoid all tree nuts but if you are questioning whether you'd be able to tolerate a specific nut, you should get tested by your allergist.
